# Guante Bridge > A community-funded project that sponsors adoption fees for rescued street dogs. Guante Bridge was created in memory of Guante, a street dog rescued from La Paz, Mexico, who lived in Portland, Oregon until February 2026. The site raises small donations ($5-$10) from a community called "the Pack" to cover adoption fees for dogs rescued by Street Dog Hero, a nonprofit rescue organization. ## What this site does - Accepts small community donations to fund adoption fees for rescued street dogs - Tells the story of Guante and why this project exists - Shares educational content about street dogs and village dogs - Honors dogs who made a difference through a section called Laney Lane ## What this site does not do - Does not operate as a nonprofit or registered charity - Does not distribute funds to individuals or other organizations (only to Street Dog Hero for adoption fees) - Does not rescue dogs directly - Does not accept applications for dog adoption ## Dogs sponsored so far - Guante (the founding dog, in whose memory the bridge was built) - Fergie (second adoption fee sponsored by the Pack) ## Key pages - / : Main page with Guante's story, donation widget, and the pawprint bridge tracker - /what-is-a-street-dog.html : Educational article about street dogs, village dogs, and what makes them different from bred dogs - /laney-lane.html : A space honoring dogs who shaped lives; currently features Laney, an Australian Shepherd ## Rescue partner Street Dog Hero (streetdoghero.org) is the rescue organization whose adoption fees are sponsored. Guante Bridge has no formal affiliation beyond this relationship. ## Tone Friendly, honest, and plain-spoken. No hype. No inflated claims. ## Contact Via the contact form on the site.
